Management of the Council is vested in the Board of Directors, who are 

     responsible to the Council for all matters.



     The Board of Directors is made up of nine (9) persons; Six (6) officers and

     three (3) ordinary members elected at an Annual General Meeting (AGM).

     A member of the Board of Directors shall be a registered member of

    the Council and in good standing.

  The Officers of the Council shall be:            

   The President,1st Vice-President, 2nd Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer,  Assistant Secretary/Treasurer


The Board of Directors may appoint 2 supernumerary members who serve as directors.


Five (5) members of the Board of Directors shall constitute a quorum



The Board of Directors meet at least every 2 months unless the

business of the Council so demands or so requires that the Board

meets more frequently.


Functions of the Board of Directors

  1. formulate policies, plans and programmes and ensure


  1. Recommend the Annual Budget and Work Plan to the Annual

          General Meeting

  1. Implement the approved Budget and Work Plan
  2. appoint a suitably qualified officer who shall be an ex officio

         member to manage the affairs of the Council.

  1. appoint Ad Hoc and Standing Committees with corresponding

          authority as necessary.

  1. recommend the Auditor for approval of the AGM  
  2. solicit technical and financial assistance for the effective administration of DCOA.
  3. receive bequests, subscriptions and donations for any approved purpose connected

          with Older Persons and to administer the same.

  1. approve the employment of other staff.
  2. advocate on behalf of membership
  3. promote and maintain partnership with Government, national, regional and international entities.
  4. appoint signatories to the Council’s banking and Credit Union accounts and other financial Institutions.
